Coach Pitch - Practice Plans
Practice Plans in this section are designed for the Coach Pitch, Machine Pitch, Hybrid Coach-Player Pitch and Quickball levels of play.
The series of practices follows a step-by-step, building block process for training team play and developing individual skills.
Development of the Batting Swing and Throwing Action are sewn into each practice.
Each day begins with Pre-practice, Wiffle-Ball Batting. Players are motivated to arrive early to get extra swings. Repetition is the most important component to skill development. Kids who take advantage of this opportunity, more quickly develop this most-important skill. When most/all players arrive early, we start practice on time and get more done.
Practice begins with a Skill Building Warm-up. This gets the kids’ heads into baseball mode before we move to the most important part of each day at the park, Playing Catch Practice. The PCP routine: (1) Batting and Throwing drills, (2) Purposeful Catch, (3) Skill Segment, which trains vital skills of game that are rarely, if ever, taught or practiced.
Team Drills and Batting Practice follow Playing Catch Practice.
We conclude as many practices as possible with an a controlled, instructional Scrimmage.
